McCabe's Show~New Album~August Tour!  Hot, Hot, Hot! August News

August 3, 2012

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. … No artist is pleased. [There is] no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others."  Martha Graham to Agnes De Mille

Dear Friends,

Lo_Res-CamSanders_120715_2723

The band and I had been planning for a rather slow July until the phone rang one wonderful afternoon in late June and it was McCabe's Guitar Shop offering us a show there on July 15. We excitedly kicked into high gear and ended up with a sell-out crowd and one of the finest nights we've ever had on stage. It was great to reconnect with a lot of our Los Angeles friends who hadn't seen the band in awhile and show them our new stuff! Big thanks go to Wayne Griffiths in the sound booth for giving us the best sound support we've ever had, and Lincoln Myerson at McCabe's for inviting us to play. It was an awesome night! Here are some photos from Cam Sanders Photography, and videos are on the way. We were asked back on the spot and will premier our new CD "White Swan" at a CD release concert there in March 2013.

Some audience comments:

"I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed the show, your sets, your selections and the SOUND! I came for the Sound and you guys and the mixer did not disappoint. Your voice and the band, not[e] for note, just rang effortlessly thru that hall. Everyone member of your crew had many moments to shine, but I always leave your shows with your voice in my ear. What a room. Your warmth and the room are a distinct match."

"…It was awesome. And what a great crowd you had. The place was packed…Again, what a great show. You were great and the band was just wonderful."

We have an amazing August coming up: first we welcome the great Lisa Burns on bass to our ensemble for a Northern California mini-tour the second weekend as we return to a favorite, the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival in Tres Pinos, California near San Jose. Later in the month we return to Brad Colerick's fine songwriter series at the Firefly in South Pasadena and that weekend the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena. We're also starting on (drumroll!) at last! our NEW ALBUM "White Swan" working again with our dear friend Rick Cunha as engineer. We're all looking forward to returning to the beautiful and comfy Rainbow Garage here in Los Angeles.

We also get to stop in to record a show for Roz Larman's Folk Scene on KPFK here in Los Angeles mid-month. We'll keep you posted about when the show will be broadcast and available for online listening.

Until next month, please visit us on our Facebook page – Come on out to a show and bring your friends! We all send you love and blessings,
