We welcome new friends to this newsletter, and we hope you're having a great summer so far. Ours is off to a terrific start ~ as I write today the band and I are still flying high from a wonderful time at the Father's Day Festival in Grass Valley. We send big thanks to everyone at the California Bluegrass Association for a great festival experience and especially to Dave Gooding for the booking, Lisa Burns for loaning us her wonderful bass, Joe Weed for filming us, Mike Melnyk for the incredible photography, Bill Evans for sitting in, KVMR's Evangeline Elston and Eric Rice for the radio interview and live on the air mini-set, and Brian Walker for the great sound support. This is festival done right, folks!
We're moving on into the summer with a short break in performing. Family vacations and album prep work will take up the month. We have great shows lined up in August, including a return to Roz Larman's Folk Scene on KPFK here in Los Angeles. We'll keep you posted about when the show will be broadcast and available for online listening.
We should also have on the way some nice video from Grass Valley thanks to Joe Weed at Highland Studios. Stay tuned for that as well.
And the biggest thing on tap for us is the recording of the new album, at last! We're really excited to put down these new songs we've been playing out now for over a year. We'll be debuting our new songs as well as our versions of Ernest Troost's "Evangeline" and James Taylor's "Mill Worker" along with Jean Ritchie's beautiful ballad, "The Soldier," and other surprises.
Until next month, please visit us on Facebook and our website! And until we see you, happy summer!
We all send you love and blessings,
Susie and the Hilonesome Boys
